Simon lay quietly, feet bare, digging into cool grass under his back as he looked up at the fluffy clouds floating above him.
"You look like the cat that got the cream Doc," Mal's voice held an amused tone.
"Simply enjoying the moment Captain," Simon said. "Are we ready to leave?"
"Hmm yeah, all packed up," Mal said. "But I reckon we could wait a few more minutes."
Simon smiled softly and wriggled over, leaving half his blanket available for the Captain. Mal's warmth settled against his side, although he kept his boots on. "I miss the sky sometimes," Simon said. "You know I don't think I ever paid much attention to it, when I was back... before Serenity, but being on the ship all the time I do miss it."
"Maybe Kaylee'll paint you a mural if you ask her nicely," Mal suggested.
Simon chuckled softly. "I don't think that will be necessary."
"You know, this rock has two moons," Mal said.
"Hmm, yeah," Simon said.
"Pretty spectacular sunset too," Mal said.
"So I hear," Simon said.
"We could probably hang around a few more hours, we're a little ahead of schedule anyway," Mal said.
Simon smiled, turning to look at the other man, gently tangling their fingers together between them. "I'd like that."
